I’ve been struggling with pigmentation problem all my life and to be honest face pigmentation is one of my biggest insecurities.
I was born with freckles and I have been living with them for whole my life. Some people think freckles are beautiful, but i was unhappy with them and been thinking to get rid of it instead of covering them with make up every single day. In addition to that, due to prolonged sun exposure and post-pregnancy hormonal changes, melasma patches have started to appear on my cheek area.
I’ve been trying different pigmentation treatments but the pigmentation would always come back. I am so glad that I found something that works for me. The pigmentation and melasma patches have greatly lightened in just a few sessions. Thanks to Picocare 450 Laser treatments done monthly by Dr Chow Yuen Ho from the celebrity clinic, The Clifford Clinic.
What is Pico laser?
Picocare 450 Laser helps fine lines, pigmentation, tattoo removal and skin restoration. It addresses an extensive variety of skin concerns including hyperpigmentation and sun spots.
Melasma can also be removed and managed with Pico Laser treatment. The Pico laser is able to break up the pigments in your skin more effectively. With a different setting, Pico laser can also be used to remove acne scars.
What Causes Skin Pigmentation?
Skin pigmentation happens when the skin produces an excessive amount of melanin. Melanin is created by melanocytes and capacities as protection on skin cells to shield the skin from sun and UV-rays. Age spots, sun spots, and melisma can show up on the face, hands and arms if the skin is not properly taken care of.
UV-damage is the biggest culprit for pigmentation to occur. The UVA and UVB beams are the key reasons for untimely skin maturing and they can cause hyperpigmentation and sun spots. The degree of UV damage depends on a person’s skin shade and the extent of the sun exposure.
My Experience on Pico Laser Treatment at Clifford Aesthetics
Conveniently located just outside Raffles Place MRT, Clifford Aesthetics is the perfect place to go for quick treatment over my office lunch hour.
During my first appointment, I had a consultation with celebrity doctor, Dr Chow Yuen Ho. After a short assessment and photo taking to document my treatment journey, we proceeded to the treatment directly. What I love about The Clifford Clinic is that both the consultation and treatment can be done on the same day.
The procedure itself took about 10mins and Pico laser has very minimal downtime so I could immediately back to office and continue my work.
Pico Laser Post-treatment
It is normal for some scabs to form 1 or 2 days after the laser. The scabs will naturally fall off in around 3 – 5 days, together with the freckles. After the scabs fall off, you will notice that the freckles and melasma are visibly lighter than before. If your pigmentation are not as bad as mine, you may not experience scabbing.
During the recovery period, I was advised to avoid exposing my skin to excessive heat such as direct sunlight or saunas. If I have to, I must NOT forget to apply my sunscreen.
Results from Pico Laser
I am extremely satisfied with the results so far as my pigmentation and my melasma spots have greatly lightened. At the moment, I am still following up on the treatment once every 4 weeks.
Due to Circuit Breaker earlier this year and my confinement after my pregnancy, I missed out on some of the treatments and pregnancy hormones caused new pigmentation to develop so I was advised to visit them once ever 3-4 weeks.
Thank you Dr Chow and The Clifford Clinic for taking such good care of my skin.
