It was my first visit to Batu Caves after so long procrastinating my visit, well frankly speaking previously i wasn’t drawn so much to visit perhaps due to constant crowds and very touristy look of this place. But after Taramilktea post taken on this place came out, i was blown away and have a very strong urge to visit this place. Now Batu Caves has beautiful rainbow steps, I was sold!
About 12 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur, in the district of Gombak, the Batu Caves are located. We set from KL town at about 6.15am and headed to Batu Caves as early as 6.45am in the morning, just right before the sun rising. The best time to take photo without the crowds is at 7-7.15am. At 7.30 the crowds will start to come in and you will have a little chance to take a photo without people photobomb-ing you. So do come early if you want to have this beautiful steps by your own!
Trust me, you be delighted to be greeted by the beautiful gradient steps and all your effort to wake up in the morning will be worth it! Batu Caves in rainbow is looking so great and beautiful.
I saw KL from totally different perspective from my recent visit, exploring different culture and religion.. can’t thank more for this priceless experience… My body might be exhausted but my heart is full, i guess that’s the joy of travelling.. Will share about my other experiences in KL on my future posts. #exploreMalaysia
About Batu Caves
A little bit background i would like to share with you about Batu Caves extracted from Wikipedia (thanks Wiki! :))..
Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu (Stone River), which flows past the hill. It is the tenth limestone hill from Ampang. Batu Caves is also the name of a nearby village. The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old.
The cave is one of the most popular Tamil shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan (referring to the 42.7 metres or 140 ft high statue in gold in front of the temple). It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia.
Rising almost 100 m above the ground, the Batu Caves temple complex consists of three main caves and a few smaller ones. The biggest, referred to as Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave, has a very high ceiling and features ornate Hindu shrines. To reach it, visitors must climb a steep flight of 272 steps.
