[Beauty] I’ve Decided on Ultherapy Skin Rejuvenation for Youthful Face Feature

I made a visit to Halley Medical Aesthetics to meet Dr Terence Tan to consult him on skin rejuvenation treatments. Well, frankly speaking, I no longer have supple skin like that of a teenager, but I also feel that I do not need a facelift.

However, when Dr. Terence Tan told me that there is a treatment that can tighten skin and help me look more youthful, I couldn’t resist it.

I always find my jaw a little too wide and that made me look very masculine. I had done botox for jawline reduction previously, and the results were really good. However, the effect of the botox will wear off over time and my wide jawline will come back to me again. I also tried undereye fillers but just like the botox treatment, the fillers will be gone after a year and my tired-looking eyes will return and I know that some form of maintenance is definitely necessary.

During the consultation with Dr. Terence Tan, I highlighted my areas of concern to him and doctor recommended an Ultherapy treatment for me. This treatment helps to lift, tone, and tighten my skin and that will help me regain my youth and give me a more defined facial contours. Plus point? No injections are necessary for the Ultherapy treatment so you don’t have to worry if you are afraid of needles.

About Ultherapy

If you haven’t heard about Ultherapy before, let me explain it a little. Ultherapy is the only non-surgical, non-invasive, no-downtime skin tightening treatment approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It uses focused ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin. The skin’s response to this energy is to recondition sagging and tired-looking skin by stimulating the growth of fresh, new collagen. The result is a tightening and gradual lifting — or shifting — of the skin back into its more youthful position and form-fitting shape.

As the treatment can be applied with much precision with the Ulthera device, doctors are able to tighten soft tissue and skin with pin-point accuracy. Ultrasound energy is directed 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.5mm underneath the skin without disrupting the surface. Hence it can target and treat the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS), a layer of fibrous tissue beneath the surface that helps give the face its shape. The body’s regenerative response is then triggered, rejuvenating collagen and resulting in a tighter, firmer appearance.

My Ultherapy Treatment Experience

Before treatment, I’ve done some research about Ultherapy. I watched Youtube videos, read review on blogs, and browsed through websites. To be honest, some reviews made me worry at first. Some people experienced bruises after treatment and most of them said that the treatment was uncomfortable. Well, I guess no pain no gain. I challenged myself and prepared myself mentally for the treatment. In fact, I was more excited than worried about the treatment.

On the treatment day, Dr. Terence Tan thoroughly explained on the treatment process and answered all my questions. He also explained that optimal results can be seen in about 3 months time.

The therapist helped me to remove my makeup and applied numbing cream prior to the treatment. The numbing cream was left on for 30 minutes to make sure that the treatment will be a comfortable process for me.

The Ulthera device is highly versatile and is effective for lifting, contouring, shaping the face, lifting droopy eyelids, smoothening wrinkles, reducing the appearance of eye bags, and tightening sagging skin on the cheeks, neck, and eye areas. The treatment is not only focused on my areas of concern, which are my jowl and eye area, Dr. Terence did a full-face treatment for me which also included my forehead, brow and eye areas, jawline, and my neck area. I felt a tingling sensation throughout the treatment with a bit of suction on my face.

Guess what, the entire procedure wasn’t as uncomfortable as I imagined it to be, taking into consideration that it was my first time doing this treatment. Overall, it was pretty bearable.
Once in awhile, Dr. Terence Tan would hand me the mirror to check the progress. At one point after he done the treatment on my upper eyelid, I could see an immediate result. It looks slightly more lifted than the other side.

The whole treatment process took around 1 hour. Dr. Terence Tan was so friendly and he made jokes to distract me so I will not feel bored during the treatment. The therapist was very attentive as well. Overall, they made me very comfortable throughout the treatment.

After treatment, my face felt a little swollen but there were no bruising. I could still head out as per normal. The swelling only lasted for about a week. I really can’t wait to see the results in 3 months and I’ll definitely keep you all updated on the progress.

On a side note, Ultherapy can be combined with other therapies like dermal filler and botulinum neuromodulator (e.g. Botox), for a more dramatic result.
