If you happen to visit Bintan Island in Indonesia but you only have half day to explore the places outside Bintan, i would recommend you to check this few instagram worthy places to visit in Bintan.
Trikora Beach
This place remind me a lot of Belitung Island of Indonesia.. with huge boulders scattered along the beach..
To be frank, it’s not the nicest beach i’ve ever seen but locals said come to Bintan must visit this beach..
The waters are crystal clear throughout the dry season from April to September, offering great visibility for snorkelling.

500 Lohan Temple
Visiting this temple when we went to Bintan Island..
Also known as the 500 Lohan Temple, Vihara Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is one of Bintan’s best hidden treasures.
Step into the temple grounds and be transported into surreal settings of towering structures and the highlight—more than 500 life-sized (Lohan/arhat) stone statues with intricate physique and facial expressions, each one unique and different from the next. Look through the sea of faces and try spotting famous Chinese characters such as Journey to the West’s Tripitaka or Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ Guan Gong.
Entrance fee for foreigner is 30K rupiah (S$3) and for local is 10K rupiah (S$1). The temple ground is not really as huge as i imagined but this place definitely one of the highlight when you visit Bintan Island. The entrance of temple construction is unfinished and has been delayed to due Covid-19 pandemic.

Vihara Avalokitesvara
Marvel at one of the tallest statues of the Goddess of Mercy in Southeast Asia at Vihara Avalokitesvara Graha (also commonly known as Guan Yin Temple), situated a short drive away from the main town hub of Tanjung Pinang. This grand and majestic brass statue is 16.8m tall and coated in 22 carat gold.
Explore the grounds of the temple and find intricate motifs and sculptures of other Chinese deities. An impressive expanse of dragon fruit plantation sits right at the front of the temple, providing a great backdrop to insta-worthy pictures captured during the day.

Gurun Pasir Telaga Biru
It’s always interesting to see the place from bird eye view..
Hard to believe that this place is actually an abandoned mining site and now become tourist attraction..
The undulating sand dunes look even more dramatic when you look at it from the top..

A dreamy insta-worthy photo spot with mysterious and picturesque hilly sand dunes at Gurun Pasir Busung. Located next to the road, Jalan Raya Busung near Tanjung Uban, the western bay of Bintan Island, it is hard to imagine coming across a ‘desert’ in the middle of a tropical Indonesia island.
After the extraction of sand was prohibited in Bintan Island, the area was left untouched and transformed into a charming desert sandscape under the magical hands of nature. Gentle slopes with varying hues of light brown and yellow accompanied by tints of red in the sand makes Gurun Pasir Busung one of the most Instagram-able spots in Bintan Island.
