[Travel] Onsen Hot Pools Experience – Queenstown, New Zealand

On our Day 5 in New Zealand and it was our 2nd day at South Island, we started our day at Onsen Hot Pools. This place is famous for that scenic view while enjoying the onsen, it’s the boutique day spa experience. It was just opposite our accomodation at Swiss-Belresort Coroner Peak, Arthurs Point, estimated around 30 mins from Queenstown airport and around 15-20mins from Queenstown center.

Facing the Shotover River and the mountain as the backdrop. Omg i cried ? it was so surreal and too beautiful to be existed in real life!

We were occupying Room 1 btw..

The cedar wood material like adding more dramatic mood, isn’t it?! And oh the glass canopy on the center part is retractable by just pressing a button beside the onsen, how cool is that?!

Basically they have 3 types of experience to choose from:

1. THE ONSEN EXPERIENCE

Simplistic and easy, this is a hot tub for an hour in a private cedar clad room.

2. THE TANDEKI
An all inclusive experience hot tub for an hour in a private cedar clad room.
Includes: towels, aromatherapy burner, a complimentary glass of
alcohol or juice with a choice of ice cream, crisps or chocolate.

3. ULTIMATE RELAXATION EXPERIENCE
Relaxation just got better. The experience begins with an hour in a cedar hot tub with a complimentary selection of local refreshments and a snack. You are then escorted to your treatment room where you will indulge in complete relaxation with your choice of either, a 60 minute massage or 120 minute experience which includes a massage and facial. To conclude, you are invited to the lounge to enjoy a selection of herbal teas and refreshments.

We booked a Tandeki for 2 pax with 1 pool as we found that reasonably priced. Tandeki package comes with towel, drinks (you can choose alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks), snacks (chips, ice cream or chocolate)! We got the white wine and beer, potato chips and hockey pockey ice cream (i swear that it was my first time trying hockey pockey flavour thingy and i love it!!!) and the mineral water is complimentary. We didn’t make use of the aromatheraphy burner as we are so busy taking photo lol!

They also have rooms for more people with few pools inside. A room with 1 pool can be occupy with maximum 4 pax, the more people, the cheaper the price, as you’ll be sharing. We spent NZ$120 for 2 pax. Refer to their website for the latest pricing.

Look at that perfect overlooking view! ? I don’t mind starring at this view whole day! And sometimes you can see the jet boats passing by the river.

The windy and cooling weather even tho it was summer with bright sky made it still enjoyable!!!

I would say their service is superb!!! Everything are so flawless, from the user friendly online booking, credit card payment, friendly welcome service, amazing waiting area and of course the onsen experience itself.

Me and hubby really enjoying the onsen session there! And thought that we want to spend another one session of onsen on our last day in Queenstown but oh no everything are fully booked! So do book early if you plan to go down there! We booked it 2 months in advance because we went there during their summer holiday which is consider super peak season.
But hubby told me that winter at onsen will be great idea too!

Planning to try their evening session next time i visit Queenstown. And hoping for clear sky so we can enjoy the star gazing while enjoying the onsen.
