[Media Tasting] Uncle Leong Signatures @ Punggol Waterway Point

Frankly speaking it was my first time visiting Waterway Point, new shopping mall at Punggol. My friends raved about this new downtown shopping mall because there are a lot of F&B outlet.
Conveniently located at the newly established Waterway Point mall which is just next to Punggol MRT station, this newly opened seafood restaurant is definitely deserve a visit with your family.

Uncle Leong Seafood was founded in a humble and friendly neighbourhood coffee shop located in Ang Mo Kio and has since grown popular with three fullfledge restaurants across Singapore, hauling in customers both local and foreign with their modest quality and reasonable prices.

Uncle Leong Signatures captures the essence of all three outlets, serving the very best of the best from their menu. Uncle Leong Signatures serves their customers the beloved signature Chinese dishes with upmost quality and friendliness, in addition to a little twist.

The environment at Uncle Leong Signatures is different from its brother outlets, having a more western renovation which resembles a café for a more comfortable ambience. The menu concept also takes on a more café style, reducing waiting time to about 15 minutes upon order.

Not like usual seafood restaurant which sometimes offer seasonal price for some dishes on their menu, Uncle Leong Signatures at Waterway Point offer fixed price stated on the menu, so you don’t have to worry checking the price before you order.
There are 100 over new dishes available in Uncle Leong Signatures as compared with other outlets. There are dishes only available here in Punggol Waterway Point outlet:
Treasure Box Beancurd 宝盒豆腐 (New Menu)
Price: $16.90
Inside this ‘treasure box’ you can find all the goodness such as braised scallop and prawn with fragrant paisley.

Cereal Chicken 麦片鸡 (New Menu)
Price: $16.90

Thick and creamery gravy and cereal coated on top of super tender chicken meat. Best eaten when it’s still warm with crunchy cereal on top. One of my favourite dishes during the tasting, however somehow i found that the chicken a bit overcooked and too soft thus couldn’t really taste the texture of the chicken itself, and i mistaken by thinking this was made from fish.

Nescafe Pork Ribs 传统咖啡排骨  (Father’s Day Menu)
Price: $16.90
Get your coffee fix with Nescafe Pork Ribs – 传统咖啡排骨! A unique take on the pork ribs dish with a savoury coffee kick. The pork ribs were marinated for at least 4 hours with a special blend and stewed with aluminum foils to keep the intensity of the flavour.
I am not a fan of coffee and a bit hesitant to have it during the tasting, but after one bite i couldn’t stop until i finished it. The caramelized coffee on the coating give a very strong kick into tastebud with the tender pork rib meat on the interior.
Crispy Milk Granules Marble Goby 奶沙顺壳  (Father’s Day Menu)
Price $48.00
One of my favourite dishes during the tasting. The fish was crispy at the exterior and soft inside. Enjoy it by dipping into their sweet and sour homemade sauce and milk granules which gave the crunchiness.

Pan Fried Prawns in Tomato Soya Sauce 干煎虾禄  (New Menu)
Price: $19.90
Sweet, sour and savoury from tomato and soya sauce with the sweet prawns.

Twin Taste Kai Lan 双味芥兰 (Current Menu)
Price: $15.90

This is a chef’s recommendation dish. I found it so unique and not an ordinary stir fry veggie that usually you found. It is served with poached kai lan with small dried fish and shallot and deep fried kai lan topped with sweet meat floss. The deep fried kai lan was very addictive and can be eat by its own as snacks too, reminded me of those japanese dried vegetables.

XO Sauce with Scallops XO 酱带子 (New Menu)
Price: $19.90

This succulent scallop and crunchy vegetables best to have with warm rice and enjoy it with its XO sauce. The edible bowl was made from fried popiah skin.

Chili Crab 辣椒螃蟹 (Father’s Day Menu)
Price: $70.00
Get spicy with the Hong Kong version of ‘Chili Crab’ Hong Kong Style Typhoon Shelter Crab – 避风塘螃蟹! With lotsa garlic, scallions, red chili and black bean be sure to experience a fiery spiciness to your tastebud!
This is definitely my most favourite dishes during the tasting. Everything was just nice, spicy, sweet, sour and savoury.
The gravy was very rich and really addictive when you enjoy it with fried mantou. I couldn’t stop having the gravy, i even enjoyed the gravy like the soup.
The fried mantou is addictive.. Best to have it when it’s still warm and dip into crab sauce.
Butter Cheesy Crab 牛油芝士螃蟹 (Current Menu)
Price: $70.00
Uncle Leong Signatures is popular for their specialty in crab dishes and the Creamy Butter Crab – 牛油螃蟹is no exception. The fresh and succulent flesh of the crab is greatly complimented by the fragrant savoury butter sauce.
was unable to taste the buttery and cheesy taste and found the garlic taste was too overpowering. However, the crab meats were fresh and sweet. We gave feedback to chef and they will try to do something about it. I wish we can taste an improved version on our future visit.
