[Travel] Staycation 2D1N at Parkroyal on Pickering, Singapore

Decided to spent our time for staycation instead of flying somewhere to celebrate my last Desember birthday and our 3rd anniversary. Somehow hubby oppose this staycation idea, because he always say that why we have to stay at hotel if we have our own place to stay. For me, staycation is for something different especially for special occasion, rather than spend for flight ticket flying to other place.

We spent staycation at Park Royal Upper Pickering for 2D1N. As usual, check-in time is about 2pm. So we walked around Chinatown Point which is just beside this hotel and had our lunch there.

PARKROYAL on Pickering Street hotel in Singapore is conveniently located at the junction of New Bridge Road and Upper Pickering Street, opposite Hong Lim Park. It is the gateway to Singapore’s dynamic Central Business District, surrounded by prominent landmarks such as Chinatown, One George Street, China Square Central and Far East Square. You can enjoy superior views of the Singapore River, Raffles City and Marina Bay areas from your hotel room or suite. The location is a short walk away from Clarke Quay, Chinatown and Raffles Place MRT stations.
We love to explore iconic places, that’s one of the reason we spent our staycation at this hotel. My  architect colleague always call this hotel “kueh lapis”, designed by WOHA.
And for me as a Landscape Architect, i really love the landscape concept here, so i was very curious to see with my own eyes. For us as a designer, there are always reasons why we choose to stay at certain hotel..
At the lobby, you will be welcomed by green wall and reflective pool with bubbling water accent and unusual edging treatment.

Waiting lobby with the full glass up to ceiling exposing the greenery background.

Love the treatment water feature, greenery as well as paving pattern. Something different and refreshing. This space is like enclosed pathwalk. Actually on the left side is the busy road, love the greenery treatment here creating a serene space.
This “kueh lapis”, reminiscing contour line for me, it’s actually inspired by the paddy terrace.

Another part of lobby area.

The hanging garden concept.

From outside.

Another side..

The spiral staircase beside the lobby..

Lift lobby towards the guest room.
Corridor walkway towards our room..
Opposite is actually HDB view.
Greenery is everywhere, this greenwall is beside our room, the are few voids along the corridor.
OHOHTEEDEE, start!

The Guest Room

Suprisingly the room is very spacious, even though we stay at Standard Room.
The interior design is not so fantastic, but we love the big glass window, open the view towards CBD area. You can even spot few Singapore iconic building such as the Esplanade.

The bathroom with fancy mozaic tiles, similar to their facade colour template.

Bathroom toiletries and refill water bottle.

Yes, this is the view i was talking about. Not so sure what’s the function of the shelves beside the light.
View top down from our room’s window.

City view from our room.

My first OOTD at the corridor in front of our room.

And this view facing HDB.

And their unique colourful Birdcage Pavilion.

We walked at Garden behind the pool area. Right behind me is the spa room.

Tiering greens! Love how concrete and plaster and paint (which is cheap material) can become like this.

Ok then we come back again to lobby area.

There are few feature screen.

And the walkway along Upper Pickering Street. This is a public walkway, so actually without staying at hotel you can enjoy this area.

The detail is very pinterish.

Kueh lapis!

And come back again to our room.. I love this window spot for photograph.

And also their spiral staircase.. I really addicted to staircase, anytime, anywehere…

Location: Dedicated Wellness Floor on Level Five

Opening Hours: 6:00am to 10:00pm

Set amidst lush greenery, the fifth floor of our hotel-in-a-garden is home to dedicated wellness space which incorporates fitness and recreational facilities including an outdoor infinity pool overlooking the city, jacuzzi and a 300-metre garden walk.
The colourful birdcage-inspired cabanas along the perimeter of the pool also provide a comfortable chill-out space for guests to lounge. You treat yourself to a selection of local specialties and western favourites such as Nasi Goreng and hand-pulled pizzas available from their poolside menu.

View looking towards Clarke Quay area.

Chill at yellow birdcage.

After swimming, we went ahead to Chinatown Point for our dinner. My favourite Bijin Nabe! The q that day not too long, within half an hour we managed to get our table.
